Looking for Pilates, yoga, and barre in Buford?

Lifemoves Studio is a Buford fitness and wellness studio built around movement, strength, flexibility, and community. Led by Dana Yarn, the studio offers a mix of Pilates, yoga, barre, nutrition coaching, massage therapy, acupuncture, and private sessions.

Dana’s heart for the studio came from wanting something more personal than the corporate gym experience. After working in fitness environments where quotas and sales started to overshadow the people being served, she wanted to create a place where members felt known, supported, and actually cared for.

Today, Lifemoves Studio serves a wide range of people, from working women and stay-at-home moms to empty nesters, men, athletes, ballet dancers, and those who simply want to move their bodies without feeling intimidated.

Why We Featured Lifemoves Studio

We featured Lifemoves Studio because Dana’s story reflects the kind of local business Gwinnett Spotlight loves to highlight: personal, invested, community-driven, and built with real risk and commitment.

What stood out most was the way Dana talked about making movement accessible. Lifemoves Studio is not trying to be a trendy, intimidating fitness space. It is designed to be a place where people can feel comfortable walking in, even if they are not flexible, are dealing with an injury, feel nervous about their weight, or are simply unsure where to start.

Dana also emphasized the importance of quality instruction. In a time when Pilates is becoming more popular and more studios are opening, Lifemoves Studio stands out for taking the craft seriously and creating a deeper, more supportive studio experience.

The Story Behind the Business

Dana’s background started in nutrition. She is a registered dietitian and moved to the Atlanta area from Jacksonville, Florida, after undergrad to complete a dietetic internship at Emory.

But after realizing the clinical path was not the right fit, she moved deeper into fitness. She taught group fitness, worked in different fitness environments, and eventually spent time in a large corporate gym setting. That experience taught her a lot about business, but it also made her realize she wanted to get back to the heart of helping people.

While pregnant with her third child, Dana and a friend decided to take the leap and open a small studio in Buford. They quit their jobs, took out loans, faced unexpected build-out hurdles, and put everything on the line.

The studio began in a small 1,000-square-foot space and grew quickly. In about a year and a half, Lifemoves expanded into a 4,200-square-foot facility. Over time, Dana bought out her former business partner, continued growing the studio, and now leads the business with a team that includes fitness and wellness professionals.

What Makes Them Different

What makes Lifemoves Studio different is the combination of high-quality instruction, a broad wellness offering, and a community that feels personal.

Dana described Lifemoves as a place that opens its arms to everyone who walks in. Some people come for group classes and enjoy the energy of others. Others may start with private sessions because of injury, age, weight concerns, or feeling nervous about jumping into a class setting.

The studio also has a strong sense of community. Dana shared that when one of her instructors got married, a meaningful number of people at the wedding were connected to the studio. That says a lot about the kind of relationships being built there.

Lifemoves is also intentionally more approachable than many Pilates studios. Dana wanted to make the studio accessible for the Buford community, with options that allow different people to participate at different levels.

Who They Are Best For

Lifemoves Studio is a strong fit for people in and around Buford who want movement that supports their body instead of wearing it down.

It is especially well-suited for women who want to feel stronger, maintain flexibility, improve range of motion, build core strength, and stay active in a supportive environment. It is also a good fit for men, athletes, dancers, and anyone looking for a more personal alternative to a large franchise gym or high-pressure fitness environment.
